FWD: Feel free to forward to real Texans ;)
Okay I usually don't put forwards on the site, but this one was too good not to:
"SO I have all these reasons for writing this...it's somewhat of a Yankee confessional...
especially because I'm surprised how many sincere reasons I can actively defend the following rebellion.
Why Governor Big Hair is Right, by a reformed Yankee
Notes: In memoriuam UTPB history professor Dr. Waren Gardner about legalities in history.
With respect to Ed Corson, and Bruce Cox whom have taught me about republican ideals.
And one cannot write about the grand state of Texas without tipping a hat to the women-- especially of West Texas. Where the provincial joke is that West Texas is great for men and dogs and hell on women... one understands the strength that rises out of this region.
Note: the following order is for the Texas audience.
The reasons Texans should currently keep secession in the media, brought to you by one expat in the Republic of China.
Immediately giving myself no credibility...hopefully.
1- Texas not only has always had the right to legally seceded but they set legal precedence in this matter with regard to the United States of America. And, what Texans are primarily arguing about currently is that they do not agree with the way that the Federal Government is spending the taxes they contribute. This is consistently a valid precedent in American history for rebellion and secession.
2- Texas has wealth, and natural resources. Someone with greater knowledge than I would have to actively look up this sort of particular data...but with what little I know... I'm fairly certain Texas could fund and support itself.
3- I would love to enter Texas as a country in itself. I want customs to be in Texas. "HOWDY!" is about as scary as it gets. I love that. I sigh deeply and exhale when I come to the honesty that lies behind that 10 gallon hat.
Irony. Who knows. Maybe the wild west does live in some cowboys! I know the Currie Ranch and its sections of land convinced me.
4- I am a tad bit curious, as the only pro-guncontrol human I know from Detroit or TEXAS or anywhere but China..., I am curious if I'm wrong and the second amendment is still historically valid in this time. I'm sorry...don't start this argument Kate... Please. I know. I know yourside Thoth. ;)
5- I know it is a bit of experiential based knowledge and shaping that makes me speak further...but my reaction is one of wishing humility on the place of my birth. I have long since given up on judging governmental systems as one being better than another-- and come to seeing how they all-- in the end, seem to ignore history and act the same. The patterns have become so painfully obvious to me that I wager on outcomes of current events as a hobby. I hate winning. It is almost always to my chagrin that the cynical ability to predict systems and social outcomes has become a mere high school history lesson... it is that easy to break down repetitive mistakes.
The people of America, from here where I sit, seem to often have embittered perspectives on various Nations(China, Russia) and their methods of fighting against vigilantly provinces. From here, I do not propagate or support this action- but I do not believe that America would sit by while Texas seceded.. and perhaps some practical knowledge would lead to a better understanding of America in the world context."
