Third eye squeegee on all things old and new

Linklater still Dazed and Confused...apparently so...kegger at the moon tower!

Being a teenager in the 1990's we had one film that we all viewed thousands of times, I knew one guy that watched this movie every day after school for like 2 years. The film was Rick Linklater's eternal classic tale of the last day of school in 1976, Dazed and Confused. In my opinion it was the best teen-film of the 90's...it was hilarious and thought provoking, and plus it was even cooler that they filmed it in Austin, Texas. First time I visited Austin before I moved there we went and ate at the drive-in from the movie and went and found the moontower down in Zilker Park. Oh and for those of you that watch 24, Rory Cochran who played Slater the stoner guy in Dazed is now playing villain Jon Voight's go-to man. I was watching the other night and was like hey...I know that dude..wow..you can barely recognize him. The film is almost 15 years old and in a month or so I'm doing an outdoor screening of the film where they are having a keg and they are building their own moontower in their backyard! It doesn't go away, people will be watching this film over and over again until the lights go out.

Well apparently Linklater is going back to that era, well 5 years after that era anyway: he is calling it a "spiritual sequel" to Dazed, it takes place during the first weekend of college in 1980. They are supposedly shooting in Austin this summer, so all of you Austin folks looking for film work keep your ears open. Got my info for this at CHUD here
