That's right the 17th of February, 2009 Texas Legislature filed bill HCR-50!

"Affirming that the State of Texas claims sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over all powers not otherwise enumerated and granted to the federal government by the U.S. Constitution, serving notice to the federal government to cease and desist certain mandates, and providing that certain federal legislation be prohibited or repealed."

It's in committee right now, and not a single news agency is covering this story. Why? My guess is that they are scared we are really going to go all the way! texassecession.com has a website dedicated to news in this very exciting arena. Remember this country was setup as the United STATES of America. Each state was originally sovereign over itself, and very little authority was given to the federal gov't. In fact NO TAXES were originally paid to the federal gov't, and each state just generously contributed a little bit to the coffers, to keep the ceremony going. It's amazing how far we've strayed from these ideals. There are other states who are trying to do the same thing, of course they forgot to write it into their constitutions, but I think the words from the Declaration of Independence and later the 10th amendment, will suffice. Notice that we don't even have to fully secede to make this work, as the bill states this is "Affirming that the State of Texas claims sovereignty", wherein we could take control of our own affairs, and stop the spending of the behemoth federal gov't by not contributing to that ghastly mess. We need to wrest ourselves from the government teet before that rancid milk poisons us. Oklahoma has already passed such legislation! Are we really going to let the Okies beat us to the punch?!? Other states are gathering steam as well. Anyhow, how about some video instead of me yakking away?
